Pictures of actual shields were also used for reference. Uses the Roadgeek 2005 fonts. (United States law does not permit the copyrighting of typeface designs, and the fonts are meant to be copies of a U.S. Government-produced work anyway.) |

This file is in the public domain because it is prescribed by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, sign number M1-NM-5. The New Mexico Department of Transportation has adopted the 2003 version of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (herein referred to as the MUTCD) adopted by the Federal Highway Administrator as a National Standard for application on all classes of highways, subject to such modifications as is set forth in this supplement." The 2003 federal MUTCD states specifically on its page I-1 that:
