Odanacatib, Entwicklungscode MK-0822, ist ein experimenteller Wirkstoff für die Behandlung von Osteoporose und Knochenmetastasen.

Wirkmechanismus

PMID 18226527.</ref> Dieses Enzym spielt bei dem Abbau der Knochenmatrix durch Osteoklasten eine Schlüsselrolle.

Der Wirkstoff wurde von MSD Sharp & Dohme entwickelt.

Klinische Erprobung

Odanacatib ist kein zugelassenes Arzneimittel. Die Substanz befand sich in der klinischen Phase III zur Behandlung der Osteoporose.<ref>clinicaltrials.gov: BMD Efficacy and Safety of Odanacatib in Postmenopausal Women. Abgerufen am 27. März 2011.</ref> Bei durch Brustkrebs verursachten Knochenmetastasen war Odanacatib in der klinischen Phase II.<ref>clinicaltrials.gov: A Study to Examine the Effects of an Experimental Drug on Women With Breast Cancer and Metastatic Bone Disease (MBD). Abgerufen am 27. März 2011.</ref> 2016 gab MSD die Einstellung der weiteren Erprobung bekannt.
